Post 3: Biochemistry
Biochemistry isn't a well-known profession, many people
have never heard of it, even my mother often asks me what I'm studying, and
when someone asks her, she says I'm studying biotechnology haha. However, the
pandemic showed how important biochemistry is, around the world thousands of
scientists are working tirelessly to find a vaccine, or learn more about this
deadly disease. This doesn't mean that all biochemists work studying diseases,
there're some who study specific proteins, or a certain cellular mechanism,
some prefer to study bacteria. It's precisely for these reasons that I decided
to study this career, for the different fields in which I can specialize later.
I was very indecisive when I was in school, I didn't know I
wanted to study. I was bored with literature and suffered in my history classes,
but enjoyed my science classes, so I started looking for related careers.
Initially I didn't choose biochemistry because I liked it, but because I didn't see myself working on my other options, however in these two years I have
really fallen in love with my career, to think that in the future I can be part
of scientific discoveries is very exciting.
